BAC Building Appeal
Bridport Arts Centre has been welcoming audiences since 1974. But to make sure you continue to enjoy the best experience possible in our theatre and gallery, we now need to:
Update the theatre heating system
Improve the entrance
Open the main doors, relocating the box office to the front of the building
Install a lift to the gallery
Improve the gallery lighting
Create a better bar and café
Introduce an education and community space
And redecorate throughout…
The cost will be £250,000 and thanks to the generous support of organisations and individuals, we were able to start work during 2010 on external work and our front looks beautiful with the newly laid forecourt and fresh lick of paint.
Sponsor A Seat
“There is nothing worse than sitting down on an uncomfortable chair to watch something wonderful” were the words from Ben Fogle that kicked off Bridport Arts Centre’s ‘Sponsor A Seat’ Campaign. Since it’s launch in September, the campaign, which boast Ben Fogle as it’s patron, has had 50 seats sponsored and has raised a total £13,500 for the appeal out the £20,000 needed.
The seating in the Marlow Theatre has needed to be replaced for years and the new seating, provide by Audience Systems Ltd of Westbury, Wiltshire, will provide a comfortable, relaxing place for any theatre lover’s bum. The response to the campaign has been fantastic with enough being raised for the order to be placed at the end of October to ensure delivery of the new seats in January, ready for a new year of exciting programme in the theatre. Ben Fogle will be cutting the ribbon at a special party for everyone who sponsors a seat.
Sponsoring a seat costs £160 for one, or £150 per seat for two or more. The seats will be dedicated with your words of choice.
