Mark Russell: recent work

Like all serious artists, Mark Russell finds himself compelled to create art. This compulsion is to paint, and doesn't extend to obsessively exploring and examining a particular subject. In fact, he admits to asking himself 'what on earth to paint?' He finds the answer by turning to his family, to landscape and to animals - domesticated and wild - as well as to abstraction. This means the visitor will find Mark's exhibition rich in imagery, often enigmatic, all united by sweeping, gestural strokes of vibrant colour across canvases.
