Vermeer's Women

Tate guide David Hutchinson gives an illustrated talk about Vermeer’s paintings from the 1660s and 1670s - unprecedented, enigmatic images of women in intimate, light-filled interiors. Vermeer is recognised as one of the greatest European painters, although very little is known about his life and work. But the evidence of how he painted raises fascinating issues about how the paintings work and how we can look at them.
