Bridport Arts Centre was where Show of Hands had their first sell out standing gig so they are always happy to return to Bridport with their new work. “We know the people of Bridport love Show of Hands so we were really excited when their agent asked if they could play their warm-up gig here – a real treat for us all!” enthused Box Office manager Jill Beed
On Tuesday October 9 at 7.30pm Show of Hands there will be for a pre-tour performance before their 28-date UK tour of Britain showcasing their first major studio album in three years, Wake the Union. Tickets are available from the Bridport Arts Centre box office – 01308 424204 and online. Balcony seats are £18, £17 for members, and downstairs tickets are £15/£14 members/£12 concessions.
In the celebratory 20th year of their formidable partnership, award-winning singer songwriter Steve Knightley and multi instrumental wizard Phil Beer will be back on the road with regular guest Miranda Sykes, the stand-out double bass player and vocalist.
The quadruple Albert Hall sell-out band are delighted to announce special guests for the tour in the shape of North American duo Leonard Podolak and Matt Gordon.
The band move on to Doncaster for their official “first night” and then will travel from Guildford to Gateshead, Salisbury to Salford and take in venues from Buxton Opera House to Cardiff’s St David’s Hall.
The tour will mark a reunion for Steve Knightley and special guest Leonard Podolak, who were two of the songwriters involved in the recent Cecil Sharp Project, commissioned by Shrewsbury Folk Festival – performances of the finished work served as Podolak’s introduction to the UK folk scene.
