Comedy returns to the Bridport Arts Centre this month with the latest Comedy Cafe night. The popular cafe nights, hosted in the intimate Art Garden Cafe, boasts 5 comedians, for just £5, offering something for everyone’s taste.
Headlining this month’s gig will be the rich comic talents of welshman Wes Packer. Wes followed in the footsteps of Lee Mack, Peter Kay and Dylan Moran by winning the 2006 So You Think You’re Funny? Competition. With his star on the rise Wes appeared at the Montreal Comedy Festival, on ITV’s Glee Time and Paramount Comedy’s The World Stands Up before taking a two-year break from comedy in 2008.
Wes returned to comedy in 2011 and is now rapidly re-establishing himself on the national circuit, with the comedy cafe catching him just at the right time as he ascends to the top.
Opening the night wil be Omar Hamdi, one of the hardest working new acts on the circuit today. Omar’s set is as slick as it is daft and his unique style never fails to get the audience laughing.
Joining Wes and Omar will be new acts Charlie Webster and Nick Jenkin. Nick Jenkin returning to the café, the venue where he did his first ever gig on the circuit.
Resident MC Tom Glover will be hosting the night’s proceedings, testing out his latest new material on the Bridport crowd and there will be a chance for the audience to get involved and win a prize with the new caption competition.
“Our headliner this month was just breaking into TV in 2008, now after a two-year break form comedy he has returned better than ever before and I promise you will be in for a treat if you come and see him,” Said Tom.
“The café is only a small venue which makes it great for comedy as everyone can get involved with the night. I’d love to see some new faces there this month as well as the return of all our lovely regulars.”
The BAC Comedy Cafe will be at 8pm on Friday, October 26th. Tickets are £5 adults/£3 concessions and available online.
