A first chance to hear new plays written by talented local writers.

Eight short plays written for radio will be read by local actors in a  scripted reading event at Bridport Arts Centre on Wednesday 20 February. The event is a fundraiser for Bridport FM to enable a second radio broadcast week to take place in 2014. The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets are just £5.

The plays have been created by writers who attended a course led by Paul Dodgson, Writing Drama for Radio at Bridport Arts Centre  in 20111/12. The group enjoyed play writing so much they continued to meet to share their work after the course had ended and have since been joined by two new members.

Kate Wilson, Bridport Arts Centre’s Learning Coordinator, said “Paul Dodgson’s writing course was so popular it will be running again this spring beginning on March 9. The plays created last time were wonderful and incredibly varied. All those who attended were full of praise for Paul’s teaching.  The writers will have the opportunity to have their plays recorded at the Radio Production Department at Bournemouth University and we will broadcast them next year on our next radio station.

The course runs for four days over three months on March 9 & 10, April 28 and May 26 and participants need to attend all four sessions. The cost is £88 (£22 per day) but two reduced price places are available for 15 to 19 year olds at £22 (£6 per day.) Tickets are available at the Arts Centre box office on 01308 424 204 or online.
