Strength in Fragility – An evening of film screenings and discussion on community, our connection to nature, vulnerability and feminine strength, with work by Anna Best, Suky Best, Carolyn Black, Sophie Molins and Ella Squirrell.
Comprising a program of six short artist films by women from the southwest, curated by Sophie Molins, with a discussion hosted by Katrina and Dr Jo Millar. The films feature musical scores by Michael Nyman, Sarah Sarhandi, Ella Squirrel, Kai Engel, and explore themes including: the body, adolescence, nature, the sea, community, and earth.
Co- Presenter Katrina Millar is an art-historian with an MA in History of Art from University College London. Katrina grew up in Bridport and is now based between London and Somerset.
Co- Present Dr Jo Millar is a recently retired GP & Co-Founder & Chair of The Living Tree, a registered charity supporting those living with cancer. Working as a GP in the Bridport area for many years, Jo has been involved with local social prescribing & mental health services. She’s now busy helping with the Living Tree allotment, a communal space for Living tree members to grow & share produce.”
Curator Sophie Molins is a New York Times and Arts Council award-winning Artist. She has lived and made work in the US and Venezuela before returning to the UK to become a Senior lecturer teaching in Photography on Cultural Studies, art history and art for public space degrees.
