Linked to the Exhibition: Philip Sutton – My Shakespeare we take a look into the style, dress and fabrics used by the Tudors.
As part of this talk Curtis, will give a round up of the Tudor period – monarchs, wives, wars and wealth to put fashion in context. Curtis will bring along costumes from the period for you to look up close on how clothing was worn.
Curtis has been sewing and making creations since he was a boy, but has also worked as a professional Costume designer and maker for theatre shows such as Pride and Prejudice, 39 Steps and Little Women.
Working on stage productions Curtis has provided design and costume production for sets including period productions (Little Women & Pride and Prejudice) as well as contemporary and children’s theatre. Alongside the creations for the stage Curtis has made couture outfits for specific occasions including weddings. And has been a guest blogger for fabric companies including Minerva Crafts, White Tree Fabrics and Sprout Patterns (US).
