The Old Malt House Jazz Band are a swing and jazz ensemble from Bristol who have a passion for the Trad Jazz of the 1920s to ’40s.
The band is led by singer/guitarist Joseph Trudgeon and his regular collaborator, saxophonist Greg Sterland. They will be joined at Bridport Arts Centre by their rhythm section of Dan Somers on piano, Mike Kennedy on Double Bass and Barney C Rockford on Drums.
As well as playing at festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown and Fanny’s Meadow, the Old Malt House Jazz Band have played venues across the country from London to the Brecon Beacons and Cornwall, much to the delight of local jazz lovers.
Their set includes Louis Armstrong’s Dinah, Billie Holiday’s Me, Myself and I (Are All in Love with You), and Can’t we be Friends by Red Nichols and his Five Pennies, not to mention the irresistible Little Ann Street Stomp penned by Joseph Trudgeon himself in a 1920s style.
