Royal Women is a special exhibition at the Fashion Museum for 2018/19 that explores the fashions worn by four successive generations of women in the British Royal Family.
Spanning almost 100 years of royal fashion history, the exhibition examines the sartorial lives of Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, and Princess Margaret, looking at each woman’s unique style, the role they played within the monarchy and how that was reflected in their choice of dress.
Exhibition curator Elly Summers will offer audiences an exclusive insight into the exquisite pieces selected for display, examining not only what they reveal about the style of these incredible royal women, but also the collection stories that lie behind the objects and the processes involved in curating a major fashion exhibition.
