Job Opportunities

We are looking for an exceptional individual to provide organisational, managerial and artistic leadership. The Director will continue to build the Art Centre’s high profile and reputation for quality, whilst developing strategies to ensure its future sustainability. Bridport Arts Centre is a vibrant multi-arts venue, playing a central role in the cultural life of Bridport and West Dorset, and contributing to the artistic vibrancy of the South West. Key signature projects give us a unique identity, including international creative writing competition the Bridport Prize and the From Page to Screen film festival. We also house the largest gallery space in Dorset. We are supported by Arts Council England, Dorset Council and Bridport Town Council.

We successfully bid to remain an ACE National Portfolio Organisation for 2018-2022. This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop the Arts Centre’s successful programme, and to build the organisation’s strategic role in the South West individually and as part of collaborative networks. This is a hands-on role, providing leadership for our small, committed team and being a figurehead for the organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience of management and leadership in a small organisation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, an enterprising approach to fundraising and income generation, creative programming, as well as energy, creativity and commitment.

Financial numeracy and a basic understanding of management accounts/cash flow data would also be an asset. Request an application pack by email via the button below.

Volunteer Opportunities

Gallery Stewards

Do you love art? Do you have a few hours to spare?

We’re looking for stewards to work at least four hours a week to provide a friendly presence in the Allsop Gallery.  Stewards enhance all aspects of the visitor experience interacting with people about exhibitions and maintaining the appearance of the space where appropriate.

In return we offer full training and tickets to selected theatre shows. Please contact Dee on for more information.

Front of House Stewards

Come and join the BAC Front of House Team and get involved in a lively programme of theatre, dance, comedy and more! The role involves working at our performances and events to make sure that our visitors are safe and happy. We hold training sessions annually, in January. Usually on a Monday from 1-2pm or 6-7pm to enable as many people to be able to attend. Sessions normally last only an hour, depending on Q&A during/after the briefing.

If you would like to become a Front of House volunteer please email Dee on

Thank you for your interest, if you would like to be part of the team please get in touch and we will get back to you as soon as we are able to.

n.b. STEWARDS ROTA is now updated real-time via a Google page link.

Last year our volunteers contributed hours of their time and we are extremely grateful. There are many reasons why you may want to join our team, some people want to learn new skills, others enjoy meeting new people while others simply love the arts

We think volunteering at the Arts Centre is fun, here’s what our stewards have to say about it:

“Being a steward at the Arts Centre has offered many things to me, ...opportunities to meet stimulating people, to contribute to the  running of this great community asset, to see  and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment which otherwise might pass me by, and,  not least, to share fun and laughter with the dedicated staff who keep it all going.”
“I enjoy being a steward, it is fun and gives you a chance to meet people and be part of a team contributing to the running  of a great Arts Centre”
