We are currently seeking new board members, including the role of Treasurer
2023 will see Bridport Arts Centre celebrating our 50th year of operation as an arts charity! To help us deliver our ambitious plans for celebrating this milestone by broadening and deepening our positive impact on people’s lives through arts and culture, we are looking to further diversify and expand our board of trustees, bringing new skills, voices, experiences and capacity to our work.
We are currently seeking a Treasurer, as well as several other trustees with knowledge, experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas – visual arts, fundraising, marketing and audience development, equity and diversity, young people, arts participation, environment, health and social care and education.
We recognise the beneficial impact that difference has on our work and are committed to ensuring that our board is diverse, promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of our operation. We therefore actively encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and communities and particularly those under-represented in the arts.
The Board of Trustees meets 6 times per year, with sub-groups supporting different areas of work taking place between meetings. Role profiles are available on request, including one providing further details of the requirements for the Treasurer role.
The Treasurer role heads up the Finance sub-committee and works with the organisation’s finance officer to develop and present reports to the finance committee and the main board. Good financial analysis skills are required and ideally a familiarity with charity accounting.
We recognise that if you’ve not been a Trustee before, you may have questions about the role. If you’d like to find out more about what it means to be a Trustee with us, or to have an informal chat with our director Mick Smith about this, he will be happy to assist.
Please contact Mick to arrange a time at: [email protected]
For further information, a specification and details of how to apply please email our General Manager – [email protected] including ‘Trustee recruitment’ in the subject line.
The deadline for full applications is 31 March 2022. However, if you are interested but cannot meet this deadline, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the Chair of the board.
