We are delighted to announce that we will receive £344,200 of investment from Arts Council England to improve the financial resilience and environmental sustainability of our building by installing three-phase power, investing in high-specification technical equipment, refurbishing the auditorium and stage area, increasing accessibility, installing secondary glazing in heritage windows and improving the Front of House area.
A condition of the investment is that we need to raise £230,000 to match the contribution from the ArtsCouncil for the developments. We have already secured £100,000 but have £130,000 still to go! We will be launching a public appeal soon to let people know how you can support this exciting chapter in Bridport Arts Centre’s history.
We will share more information and finalised plans in due course but hope you will join us celebrating this great news!

We have a full and varied programme running over 7 days a week, 50 weeks of the year, and need dedicated and flexible bar staff to provide reliable cover .
Our programme is split into 3 seasons per year, covering 4 months per season, and a rota showing bar shifts needed is sent out at least a month in advance of each programme.
From time to time, extra events are added, so we will email round our bar staff to see who would like to cover those shifts.
Ideally this would suit anyone of any age with a cheerful attitude, great customer skills and the ability to work in quite a small bar with loads of character but not many modern features!!
If you would like further details, please contact our General Manager/Bar Manager, Dee Fenton:
Our first Secret Art Sale last month was a tremendous success. Thanks to the generosity of the public who bought pieces, we raised £4,500 of vital funds towards the visual arts programme. But most importantly our gratitude goes to all the artists, over 60 of whom, kindly donated their work to be sold anonymously.
Megan Dunford, Exhibitions Assistant said:
‘We are so grateful to everyone who came down on the day to purchase unique works of art, we were overwhelmed with how many people there were when we opened! A very special thank you of course goes to the artists, who without, this just wouldn’t be possible.’
Based on the success of this year’s event we plan on making it an annual fixture. There was such great enthusiasm from people who appreciated the chance to discover and collect work from new & known artists, and the money raised is invaluable to us to continue our work.
If you are an artist interested in donating work or would like to be informed about next years event email; email@example.com or call 01308 424204
