Alan Williams Theatre Bursary for 2018 Is Open

Talented young performers from Bridport can apply to get a helping hand thanks to a bursary that will make awards for amounts between £500 – £1000.

The Alan Williams Bursary is for young people undertaking a professional course in one of the performing arts, to support their costs during their programme of study.  Preference is given to those who clearly demonstrate involvement with local groups like BMTC.  Each bursary is for one year; students may reapply each year, making it feasible that a student could be supported throughout a 3-year programme.

Anyone interested in applying for the award should download this simple form The Alan Williams Bursary.

There is no specified closing date but they expect to decide on the allocation of funds by the end of August 2018. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply as soon as they know which course or courses they are submitting to.

In 2017, the fund awarded £1800 to two recipients – Cameron Love and Alexander Hughes, who are both going to study at the International School of Screen acting in London.

Bridport Arts Centre director, Laura Cockett said: “This award will help to support the next generation of young performers from Bridport. Starting out in a competitive industry can be difficult because of the costs involved. This bursary will give youngsters a real boost

All applicants will receive an email acknowledging their application and will be invited to interview.
