Richard and Clare Colby Generously Support BAC

Richard and Clare Colby have presented us with a cheque for £2,000 in memory of Richards parents. Horace and Philippa Colby who were founder members of Allington Art Club (now Bridport Arts Society) and involved with the Arts Centre during it’s establishment in the 1970’s.

We are committed to bringing high quality and diverse visual arts shows to Bridport, and to supporting local artists to exhibit. The Allsop Gallery attracts an average of 10,000 visitors each year to its exhibitions, workshops and talks. All of these events can only be delivered by successfully raising the funds needed to support this work.

Kind donations like this enable us to continue to encourage people to learn about the visual arts and perhaps to take part themselves.

Laura Cockett, Director of Bridport Arts Centre said: “We are thrilled with the donation from Richard and Clare and would like to say a huge thank you to them for supporting both the Arts Centre, a charity we replys upon the generosity of people like the Colby family to help us continue our work. The gallery encourages people to make their own work as well as appreciate the work of others. We hope this will be a fitting legacy to Horace and Philippa”.

As a charity we rely upon the generosity of individuals to keep the Allsop Gallery, which is the largest gallery space in Dorset, running and free to enter.
