It took 12 hours in a queue to sign the book of condolence at Westminster and an estimated 2.5 billion viewed the funeral broadcast. The Queen is set in the weeks before the funeral took place.
“A fascinating mix of high-minded gossip and historical perspective.”
The Hollywood Reporter.
The Queen spawned a sea of television series about Royalty not least The Crown created by the film’s screenwriter Peter Morgan. However, The Queen stands head and shoulders above them all due to the central performance by Helen Mirren for which she received no less than 47 best actress awards including Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta. Roger Ebert the legendary American film critic came out of retirement in order to review the film: “What a masterful performance, built on suggestion, implication and understatement.”
