Bridport Arts Centre shuts on Saturday 21 December at 3pm and opens again at 10am on Thursday 2 January 2020. Seasons Greetings to customers old and new, and thank you for your valued support during 2019.
BACStage is our Youth Theatre for 12-18 year olds. The Youth Theatre meets on Wednesday evenings during term times, from 5.45pm – 8pm. You don’t need any previous experience to join – just an interest in theatre! Joining a youth theatre can be a great way to build your confidence, learn new skills, make new friends and, of course, develop your acting talents!
As well as creative sessions that will develop your skills as young theatre makers, the Youth Theatre chooses a show to rehearse and present on the Bridport Arts Centre stage each year.
The Youth Theatre is led by experienced Director and Theatre Maker Niki McCretton. Participants can also work toward gaining Bronze or Silver Arts Awards through participation in BACstage with support from our Participation Officer.
£60 per term (Additional fees may apply during the summer term to support show costs – prior notice will be given).

Young Producers Programme
In autumn 2017 BAC will launch its Young Producers Programme. This exciting new programme will take up to eight Young Producers (aged 16 – 25) and, through a series of development sessions, support them to put on their own events at the Arts Centre.
BAC will provide training and support at each step pf the way and the programme will culminate in a Take Over weekend in autumn2018. The group will be given budget and resources and will programme the whole building for a weekend. This will be of particular interest to anyone considering a career in arts or events management.
During the programme participants will learn how to:
Plan a creative event from scratch
Work with artists and arts professionals
Manage their time and identify priorities
Budget and manage resources
Market their event effectively to get an audience
Evaluate how their event went and learn how to improve
Participants can also work towards their Gold Arts Award (carries 16 UCAS points) during this programme.
