Reggae Bridport

An exclusive photographic exhibition exploring the world of reggae – from its origins to its icons.

The exhibition features the work of internationally acclaimed photographer and West Dorset resident Adrian Boot, with images of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Gregory Isaacs and many other reggae legends. It also includes other key figures from the period including lovers rock star Janet Kaye, poet Benjamin Zephaniah, Mick Jagger, Nelson Mandela and even a very young Naomi Campbell!

The exhibition is a partnership between Bridport Arts Centre, Urban Image, Greensleeves Records and Clocktower Records.

Adrian Boot, photographer

Bridport resident Adrian Boot is one of Britain’s most renowned music photographers. Originally moving to Jamaica in 1970 to teach physics, he developed a deep affinity with the island and its musical culture that endures to this day.

After returning to Britain, Adrian worked as a freelance photographer for prominent publications such as NME, Melody Maker, The Times, The Guardian, and The Face, and as a staff photographer for Melody Maker. He was the chief photographer for live concerts, including Live Aid, Nelson Mandela’s Freedom at 70 and Roger Waters’ The Wall – Live in Berlin.

Adrian’s diverse projects have taken him around the globe. He has authored several photography books and produced and toured exhibitions including Songs of Freedom, the Bob Marley exhibition; The Ultimate Experience, Jimi Hendrix exhibition; the Punk exhibition and the Reggae Xplosion exhibition. He has also contributed to the Elvis Presley photo archive and display at Graceland in Memphis.

Recently, Adrian contributed to the Beyond the Baseline exhibition at the British Library and is currently contributing to the major new exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story, opening at V&A East in 2026. Adrian is the co-founder of www.urbanimage.tv
