7. Intellectual property and website content

Unless stated otherwise, the text, images, photographs, video, audio, design, layout, logos, branding, graphics, artwork, programme information, event descriptions and other content on the website are owned by or licensed to Bridport Arts Centre and are protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights.

You may view, download or print reasonable extracts of website content for your own personal, private, educational or non-commercial use, provided you do not remove copyright notices, alter the material in a misleading way or use the material commercially without permission.

You must not copy, reproduce, publish, republish, upload, post, transmit, sell, license, distribute, scrape, frame, mine, extract, adapt or commercially exploit website content without our prior written permission or the permission of the relevant rights holder.

Images, production photographs, artist biographies, exhibition materials, film stills, artwork and partner content may be supplied by third parties and may be subject to additional restrictions. Please contact us if you wish to use any content beyond personal viewing or fair dealing exceptions permitted by law.

8. Security and prohibited uses

You must not use the website, online services, forms, customer accounts, payment pages, Wi-Fi login pages, chat tools or any connected systems to:

  • break the law or encourage unlawful activity;
  • upload, send or distribute viruses, malware, spyware, ransomware, malicious code or harmful material;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to our website, servers, accounts, databases, ticketing systems, payment systems, Wi-Fi systems or third-party platforms;
  • scan, test, bypass, interfere with or attack the security of the website or any connected system;
  • use automated scraping, bots, harvesting, crawling, credential stuffing, denial-of-service attacks or similar activity without permission;

9. Accuracy, availability and changes to the website

We try to keep website information accurate, up to date and accessible. However, errors can occur and information may change. Event details, prices, seating, running times, age guidance, performers, titles, dates, times, venues, access arrangements and availability may change after publication.

If you are making a special journey, have specific access requirements, are attending with children, or are relying on a particular detail, we recommend checking the relevant event page and contacting the Box Office if anything is unclear.

We may update, suspend, withdraw, replace or remove any part of the website at any time. We do not guarantee that the website or any content will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free from errors.

10. Tickets, booking and online purchases

Tickets and certain memberships, donations, vouchers or paid activities may be purchased through our website, Box Office, Spektrix ticketing system or authorised sales channels. When you complete a purchase, you agree to the applicable booking terms, any event-specific conditions and these website terms.

  • Please check your order carefully before confirming payment, including event, date, time, ticket quantity, seats, concessions, access requirements and delivery method.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate contact details so we can send tickets, service messages and event updates.
  • All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable unless stated otherwise.
  • Additional booking fees, transaction fees, postage charges, ticket refund protection charges or donation prompts will be made clear before purchase where they apply.
  • A booking is not confirmed until payment has been authorised and we have issued a confirmation or ticket.
  • Tickets remain the property of BAC until paid for in full.

Tickets for dated events, performances, cinema screenings, workshops or leisure activities are generally non-refundable once purchased unless an event is cancelled, significantly changed, rescheduled and you cannot attend the new date or a legal right to a refund applies.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Where a refund is due, we will normally refund the person who made the original purchase using the original payment method, unless another lawful arrangement is agreed.

11. Ticket resale, unauthorised sellers and concessions

Tickets must not be resold for profit, used for commercial promotions, packaged with hospitality or travel, offered as competition prizes, transferred in breach of event conditions, or sold through unauthorised resale platforms without our written permission.

We may refuse admission, cancel tickets or withhold refunds where tickets have been purchased, obtained or resold fraudulently, above face value, through unauthorised channels or in breach of these terms.

Concession, discount, complimentary, supporter, access, companion, group, school, youth, promotional or restricted tickets may be subject to eligibility checks. If you cannot provide evidence of eligibility where requested, you may be asked to pay the difference, move to another ticket type, or we may refuse admission where appropriate.

12. Events, performances, exhibitions and programme changes

BAC presents a varied programme that may include theatre, music, comedy, film, literature, visual arts, exhibitions, talks, festivals, workshops, community projects, young people’s activities, venue hires, partner events and online events.

We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to advertised programmes where necessary. This may include changing performers, speakers, artists, running times, venues, layouts, seating arrangements, dates, access arrangements, age guidance or supporting activity.

Where a material change, cancellation or postponement occurs, we will try to contact affected ticket holders using the contact details provided at booking. It is your responsibility to keep your contact details up to date and to check event information before travelling.

Some events are presented by external promoters, artists, hirers or partners. In those cases, additional terms may apply and certain decisions may be made by the promoter or partner rather than BAC.

13. Admission, latecomers, behaviour and safety

Everyone attending BAC should be able to enjoy events in a safe, welcoming and respectful environment. By booking or attending, you agree to follow venue rules, event-specific instructions and reasonable directions from BAC staff, volunteers, artists, front-of-house teams, security, workshop leaders or event partners.

  • You must have a valid ticket or booking for ticketed events.
  • Late admission is not guaranteed and may only be possible at a suitable break or at the discretion of staff and artists.
  • We may refuse admission or remove anyone whose behaviour is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe, intoxicated, disruptive, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate.
  • You must not bring prohibited, dangerous or illegal items into the venue.
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted except in designated areas where these exist.
  • Mobile phones and devices should be switched off or placed on silent during performances, screenings and talks.
  • Photography, filming, audio recording and livestreaming may be restricted or prohibited for copyright, safeguarding, privacy, artist, licensing or contractual reasons.
  • Food and drink may be restricted in performance spaces, galleries or workshops.
  • Children and young people must be supervised where required by the event or venue arrangements.

If you are refused admission or removed because you have breached these terms, venue rules or staff instructions, you may not be entitled to a refund.

14. Film classifications, age restrictions and suitability

Film screenings and some events may carry age classifications, age restrictions, content warnings or suitability guidance. Where a film has a BBFC classification or other legally relevant classification, we must comply with it.

We may refuse admission where a person does not meet an age requirement or cannot provide suitable proof of age when requested. Parents, guardians, schools and group leaders are responsible for checking event suitability, age guidance and content information before booking.

Content warnings and suitability information are provided as guidance only and may not identify every possible issue. Please contact us before booking if you need specific information to decide whether an event is suitable for you or someone in your care.

15. Workshops, classes, family activities and safeguarding

Workshops, classes, take-part activities, youth theatre, family events, school sessions and community projects may have specific booking conditions, age ranges, permissions, supervision requirements, medical/access information, emergency contact requirements, photography permissions or safeguarding arrangements.

  • Parents, guardians, schools or group leaders must provide accurate information needed to keep participants safe.
  • Participants must follow reasonable instructions from workshop leaders, staff and volunteers.
  • We may refuse participation or remove a participant where behaviour creates a safety, safeguarding or welfare risk.
  • Photography, filming and publicity permissions will be handled separately where needed.
  • Some activities may require a completed consent form before participation.

Safeguarding concerns may be shared with our safeguarding lead, local authorities, emergency services, schools, parents/guardians or other appropriate bodies where necessary to protect children, young people or vulnerable adults.

16. Exhibitions, galleries and free events

Our galleries and free events may have opening times, access arrangements, capacity limits, private view arrangements, venue rules or content guidance. Opening times and availability may change due to installation, maintenance, events, staffing, private hires or circumstances outside our control.

Artwork, installations, exhibition materials and displays must not be touched, photographed, copied or used in ways that breach instructions, copyright, artist rights, lender conditions, safety requirements or venue rules.

Free admission does not remove the need to follow staff instructions and venue rules.

17. Memberships, Supporters, donations and Gift Aid

BAC is a charity and relies on supporters, members, donors, funders, audiences and partners. Supporter and Premium Supporter purchases, donations, Gift Aid declarations, legacies, memberships, benefits and supporter communications may be subject to specific terms shown on the relevant page or at the point of purchase.

Supporter benefits, discounts, invitations, priority booking, acknowledgements and renewal arrangements are subject to the published Supporter Terms and to availability. Discounts and benefits may not apply to all events and usually cannot be applied retrospectively.

Where part of a Supporter payment is treated as a donation, Gift Aid eligibility depends on HMRC rules and the value of benefits received. You are responsible for confirming that any Gift Aid declaration you make is accurate and that you have paid sufficient UK tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed.

Donations are generally non-refundable unless there has been an error, unauthorised payment, legal requirement or other exceptional circumstance.

Back to contents

18. Gift vouchers, discounts, offers and promotions

Gift vouchers, credit vouchers, discount codes, offers, promotions, complimentary tickets and special schemes are subject to the terms shown at the time they are issued or used.

  • Vouchers and codes may have expiry dates, exclusions, event restrictions, capacity limits or minimum spend requirements.
  • Offers are subject to availability and may be withdrawn or amended where necessary.
  • Discounts and offers cannot usually be combined unless stated otherwise.
  • Vouchers, discounts and complimentary tickets have no cash value unless the specific terms say otherwise.
  • Lost, stolen or expired vouchers may not be replaceable unless the specific terms say otherwise or the law requires it.

We may refuse or cancel a discount, offer, voucher or promotional booking where we reasonably believe it has been misused, obtained fraudulently, transferred in breach of terms, or applied in error.

Back to contents

19. Ticket refund protection

We may offer optional ticket refund protection through Secure My Booking or another third-party provider. This is separate from your ticket purchase and is subject to the provider’s own terms, eligibility criteria, evidence requirements, claims process and exclusions.

If an event is cancelled or postponed by BAC, you do not normally need to claim through ticket refund protection; we will contact ticket holders about the options available under our booking policy. The fee paid for ticket refund protection may not be refundable where the provider’s terms say this.

Questions about refund protection claims should usually be directed to the refund protection provider.

20. Online events, streaming and recorded content

BAC may provide online events, webinars, talks, livestreams, digital workshops, recordings or on-demand content through our website or third-party platforms such as Crowdcast, video services or event partners.

  • Access links, passwords or codes are for the person or household stated at booking and must not be shared publicly or resold.
  • We cannot guarantee that your device, browser, internet connection or third-party platform will work without interruption.
  • Online events may have time-limited availability, territorial restrictions, age guidance or rights restrictions.
  • You must not copy, download, record, redistribute, screenshot, livestream or commercially exploit online content unless we have clearly given permission.
  • Chat, Q&A, polls and comments must be respectful and lawful.

Some online events may be recorded. Where this happens, we will aim to tell participants in advance. If you participate by camera, microphone, chat or Q&A, your contribution may be included in the recording.

21. Public Wi-Fi

Public Wi-Fi at BAC is provided through Wireless Social. Use of public Wi-Fi is subject to the Wi-Fi sign-in wording, our Privacy Policy and any acceptable use terms shown on the Wi-Fi login page.

The Wi-Fi is provided on an ‘as available’ basis. We do not guarantee speed, availability, compatibility, security or uninterrupted access. Public Wi-Fi is not a substitute for your own secure connection where you are transmitting confidential or sensitive information.

You must use public Wi-Fi lawfully and must not use it to access or distribute unlawful material, infringe rights, send spam, attack networks, distribute malware, harass others, commit fraud, or interfere with the service. We may suspend, restrict or block access where misuse is detected or suspected.

For more information about how Wi-Fi data is collected and used, please see our Privacy Policy.

22. User content, submissions and communications

You may be able to send us messages, enquiries, feedback, survey responses, testimonials, comments, competition entries, creative submissions, images, documents or other content through the website, email, forms, social media or third-party platforms.

You must only submit content that you have the right to submit and that is lawful, accurate, respectful and not misleading. You must not submit content that infringes copyright, breaches confidentiality, contains unlawful material, is discriminatory, defamatory, threatening, abusive, obscene, harassing, fraudulent or otherwise inappropriate.

When you submit content to us, you allow us to use, store, reproduce and share it as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was submitted, for example responding to an enquiry, administering a competition, delivering a project, assessing an application, promoting an event where you have agreed, or meeting legal obligations.

Specific competitions, commissions, artist submissions, publicity permissions or project agreements may include additional licence terms. Those specific terms take priority for that content.

We may remove, edit, moderate, refuse to publish or report user content where we reasonably believe it breaches these terms, infringes rights, creates a risk, or is inappropriate for BAC platforms.

Back to contents

23. Competitions, prize draws and promotions

Competitions, prize draws, awards, promotions and similar activities may have specific terms covering eligibility, opening and closing dates, judging, prizes, publicity, intellectual property, data use and winner notification.

By entering, you agree to the specific terms for that competition or promotion. If there is a conflict between these website terms and the specific competition or promotion terms, the specific terms will take priority.

We may disqualify entries that are late, incomplete, unlawful, offensive, fraudulent, technically corrupted, submitted in breach of rules, or otherwise inconsistent with the purpose and fairness of the competition.

24. Third-party websites, platforms and services

Our website may include links, embedded content or integrations involving third-party websites and services, including ticketing pages, payment providers, Google services, maps, video platforms, social media, email services, helpdesk tools, live chat, chatbot tools, Crowdcast, Wireless Social, Spektrix, Secure My Booking, funder or partner websites.

Third-party websites and services are not controlled by BAC. We are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, policies, privacy practices or terms. Links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily mean we endorse the third party or its content.

You should read the relevant third-party terms and privacy notices before using their services or providing information to them.

We provide the website and its content in good faith. We do not promise that the website will always be available, error-free, secure, virus-free, compatible with your device, or that all information will be complete and up to date at all times.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to the paragraph above, BAC is responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or negligence. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, losses caused by your breach of these terms, losses caused by third-party services outside our control, or business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, data or business interruption.
