And Then Come The Nightjars (15) + post-film Q&A with Nigel Hastings (Jeff)

TICKETS: £6 ADULTS | £5 CONCS | £4 STUDENTS/FILM SOCIETY MEMBERS

We are delighted to welcome one of the main actors Nigel Hastings (Jeff) to introduce the film, with a Q&A after the screening.

Adapted for the screen from Bea Roberts’ multi-award-winning stage play about male friendship and survival, And Then Come the Nightjars tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a Devon farmer and the vet who is assigned to cull his precious herd during the 2001 Foot and Mouth epidemic.

Nigel Hastings and David Fielder reprise their hugely successful on-stage roles as Jeff and Michael, with the play’s director Paul Robinson making his feature-length film directorial debut.

It's the personal relationship between Jeff and Michael that really makes the film... I could have watched them bicker until the cows come home

Mark Searby, Phoenix FM

A heart-warming tale of friendship in a farming community

Anna Smith, Saga

The film doesn’t shirk away from the impact of catastrophe, with Michael’s rage at the loss of his “girls” (each cow named for a Royal family member) contrasting with the quiet moments of birdsong and light breezes.★★★★
