Artist film premiere – Helen Garrett: Befriending the Mystery
The premiere of a new documentary following Dorset artist Helen Garrett as she prepares for an exhibition of her work.
We discover how she developed her mystical, otherworldly style and love of painting. The influence of ancient stories held in the landscape and the colours of the natural world, inspire and conspire to create delicate echoes throughout her work.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A exploring the impetus behind the documentary with filmmakers Steph Farmer and Trevor Hearing, artist Helen Garrett and writer Kate Innes. Event chaired by Anna Powell, curator and gallery director, Sladers Yard.

Primordial Dance – an exhibition of paintings by Helen Garrett with poetry by Kate Innes – is at the Allsop Gallery from 29 Nov to 20 Dec. The private view takes place from 6.30pm onwards, following the screening and discussion.
