Drawing With West Bay – workshop led by Frances Hatch

Join artist Frances Hatch in West Bay on a guided drawing walk, recording the sights, sounds and materials of the Jurassic coast.

11am: meet promptly outside The West Bay Hotel, 3 Station Rd, West Bay, Bridport DT6 4EW.

11am-2pm: participants will be guided on a slow, mindful wander (no longer than a half a mile in all at a slow pace with many pauses) with regular invitations by Frances to attend to certain senses or aspects of the experience. We will gather/write/make marks using only what we find along the way.

The intention is to fill the pages with whatever each of us notices. There is no right or wrong way of doing this. Each sketchbook will offer a unique view of West Bay and a record of the sights and sounds and materials we met along the way.

The weather may or may not make itself felt!

There will be a pause to have a bite to eat during the session and time to share experiences towards the end of our time together.

Frances will provide all participants with a very simple concertina ‘sketchbook’, a pot of medium (to mix our gathered materials and to act as an adhesive for collage) and a pencil. No need to bring anything of your own beyond the basics below.

What to bring with you
Snacks and a drink; a little spray container filled with water (cosmetic-type); a ruck sack; weather appropriate clothes and footwear.
