Emily Young: Lost Mountain Head I – BAC forecourt
Emily Young’s sculpture, ‘Lost Mountain Head I’ (2013), will be on display outside BAC throughout the summer.
We’re hugely grateful to Emily Young and everyone in her team for making this possible. As you will see from the photos of the installation on 14 July (below), it was quite an undertaking.
Sculpted from pyroclastic stone, the large sculpture (H 102cm x W 56 cm x D 101cm) makes an extraordinary impact outside the Arts Centre.
Acclaimed by the Financial Times as “Britain’s greatest living stone sculptor”, it’s wonderful to be able to share Emily’s work in such a prominent position in the town. Bridport is the home of Emily’s large UK workshop and private gallery, with most of the studio team being residents of the town.
First shown at the Venice Biennale in 2013, ‘Lost Mountain Head I’ has remained part of Emily’s collection, and has been shown at international and UK venues including Berkeley Square, Bankside (next to Tate Modern) and returning to the Venice Biennale last year, where Emily’s show won the European Cultural Centre’s ‘Sculpture and Installation’ prize.
