One Day Festival of Music on Film: Monterey Pop
The Mamas and Papas, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Otis Redding, Ravi Shankar and the Jimi Hendrix Experience …
Arguably the mother of all rock and pop festival films. you can almost feel the birthing of the Summer of Love during 1967’s Monterey Pop Festival. The contrast between the Newport-style, neatly laid out chairs and wild, primal expression of the performers on the stage could not be more stark. Filmmaker, D. A. Pennebaker beautifully captures the experience of an audience whose mind is slowly, but surely being blown. Somehow, things won’t ever be the same again.

Reviews
The pinnacle of concert movies.
Quite simply one of the best rock concert films ever... Ravi Shankar's exhilarating twenty-minute finale is the best thing in the entire movie.
