One Day Festival of Music on Film: Stop Making Sense

The energy, unpredictability and wit of Talking Heads in concert – plus an unfeasibility large, pale blue, business suit…

Talking Heads’ lead singer, David Byrne walks onto a bare stage with a portable cassette player and an acoustic guitar to introduce ‘Psycho Killer’. With each successive song, he’s joined by more musicians, more staging as the show builds to peak intensity. Not simply a concert film, this is a “performance film” in which director Jonathan Demme strips everything away to concentrate on the music, movement and wild flowing fun of Talking Heads. ‘Once in a Lifetime’, you betcha!

Rotten Tomatoes 100% critics score.
