Stewards

There are many reasons why you may want to join our team, some people want to learn new skills, others enjoy meeting new people while others simply love the arts.

We are extremely grateful! Last year our volunteers contributed many hours of their time.

Front of House Stewards

Gallery and Theatre Stewarding information, and briefing dates

Come and join the BAC Front of House Team and get involved in a lively programme of theatre, dance, comedy and more! The role involves working at our performances and events to make sure that our visitors are safe and happy. Full training is given during the pre-event briefings.

We’re also looking for stewards to work at least 2 hours a week to provide a friendly presence in the Allsop Gallery. Stewards enhance all aspects of the visitor experience, interacting with people about exhibitions and enabling visitors to feel comfortable and welcome in the gallery space.

If you have never stewarded before but are interested in joining either the gallery, theatre (or both!) team, please let our Steward coordinator, Steph, know by emailing [email protected].

n.b. Attending a steward briefing prior to your first theatre event / gallery shift is required.

Thank you for your interest, and see you soon!

Why become a Steward?

We think volunteering at the Arts Centre is fun, here’s what our stewards have to say about it:

Being a steward at the Arts Centre has offered many things to me; opportunities to meet stimulating people, to contribute to the  running of this great community asset, to see  and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment which otherwise might pass me by, and, not least, to share fun and laughter with the dedicated staff who keep it all going.

I enjoy being a steward, it is fun and gives you a chance to meet people and be part of a team contributing to the running  of a great Arts Centre.
