You probably already know that Bridport Arts Centre brings live and visual arts to audiences around Dorset and the South West. But you might not know just what you help us to do when you become a member. Here are just a few of the things our members achieve…
Get messy
Art fires the imagination – and making art boosts creativity, improves self-confidence and helps children question the world around them. Thanks to our members we are able to deliver workshops throughout the year for children aged between 2-18 years old. We believe that visiting galleries and making art should be something everyone can experience as they grow up. And you never know – we might just be supporting the development of the next Picasso….
Help us look after an old Dame
She’s strong but needs our company. She’s classical but with a contemporary twist. She’s seen far more in her years than any of us can imagine. The beautiful Grade II listed building provides the backdrop for all the activities that we enjoy together, and your membership helps to keep the programme running 50 weeks of the year for nearly 40,000 visitors.
The gift of a giggle
There are few things so guaranteed to make us break into a grin as the happy, smiling faces of children as they leave the theatre after seeing a show. It is a joy and a privilege to know that many children see theatre for the first time here at their local Arts Centre. Our members help to bring families together for these joyful events and introduce children as young as one year old to live performance – where they are amazed that they can talk to the performers or meet them after the show!
Look after the future of the arts
We’ve always got our eye on the future and that means investing in young people in our community. Your support means our Youth Theatre is nurturing the next generation of performers and theatre makers. With our members’ help we offer all young people aged 14-25 years the chance for free membership and tickets to selected events for just £5.
