Storylines

A playful, collaborative story-writing adventure workshop with The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares for children aged 8-11.

How do you get from here to there? And once you’re out there, how do you get back home? Come and join us as we write our way out of frying pans and into fires, into corners and out of trouble, and from secret doorways…. out into the unknown. Working together we will write a story that takes the reader on a journey of perilous discovery, from in our heads…to who knows where!

Changing lives, one story at a time, The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares is a writing charity that champions the creativity of young people. We know that exercising the imagination, and creating stories in particular, helps a child to make sense of the world around them, helps them question society and orientate themselves within it. This creative expression improves the mental and emotional wellbeing, life chances and career outcomes for young people. And it does so in a confidence boosting, cloud busting burst of imagination. At The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares we deal in the currency of words, because young people’s words matter; their thoughts count, and their ideas might just change the world.

From and To is one of 60 new projects commissioned across the UK as part of Our Freedom: Then and Now, a new UK-wide, locally-led arts and creative programme, reflecting on what ‘Our Freedom’ means to communities following the 80th anniversary of VE/VJ Day. It is delivered in partnership with Libraries Connected and Open Eye Gallery, supported using public funding by UK Government through Arts Council England.
