Fadelands | Marc Atkins

Long before an image settles into something fixed, it passes through uncertainty, through shifting light, half-remembered form, the space between what’s found and what’s imagined. Fadelands is a journey through that uncertainty: a landscape of entangled paths, buildings of myriad rooms, where fleeting insights, points of intricacies, shifts in shadow and fissures within certainties move towards elusive images and innominate forms. 

Atkins brings together sculpture, drawing and lens-based imagery, using mechanical, chemical and digital processes, everyday objects, construction and discarded materials. Framed and unframed images, small and large sculptural works, and time-based images on intimate and larger screens form a potent multi-dimensional composition. 

About the artist: Marc Atkins is an English artist working across lens-based media, drawing, painting, sculpture and text. He spent many years living and working in London, with extended periods in Rome, Detroit, New York, Warsaw and Paris, and has recently made Bridport his home. 

Exhibition runs from Saturday 7th November – Saturday 19th December
